NATURE’S FOODS

Reaping food produce growing on their own is one of the rewards of preserving our connection with the bio-organic network.

When reaping from nature, the season plays an important part. This is because when in season, natural foods are plentiful. Any food type in abundance, is an indication that nature can afford to give away some of its yields. Not only people benefit but also animals and birds.

Our peoples have learnt that the flavour of a natural food is at its best when it is fully mature and in season. It is worthwhile waiting until the food is fully ripe because of its taste. There are many types of foods which are reaped seasonally. These include, crabs, fish and a variety of forest fruits.

Crabs have been our traditional diet for many moons, and continue to do so because they are mostly harvested seasonally
